| Description |
Bahasa Indonesia: Cakwe adalah penganan tradisional dari Tiongkok. Kata cakwe sendiri berasal dari frasa dalam bahasa Hokkian yakni "iû-chiā-kóe" yang berarti "hantu yang digoreng." Penamaan tersebut merupakan lambang kemarahan rakyat Tiongkok atas fitnah yang diutarakan oleh Qin Hui (Perdana Menteri Tiongkok pada masa Dinasti Song) terhadap Jenderal Yue Fei yang berakibat pada vonis hukuman mati kepada jenderal tersebut. Kemarahan tersebut diungkapkan dengan cara menggoreng dua adonan tepung yang dibentuk seperti manusia yang saling memunggungi, sehingga adonan tersebut mencuat ke permukaan.
Cakwe termasuk penganan yang populer di Indonesia dan dijual di kaki lima maupun restoran. Penganan yang terbuat dari adonan tepung ini disajikan gaya berbeda di setiap daerahnya. Penyajian cakwe bersama sambal asam cair atau sambal kacang cair dilakukan di Medan dan Bandung dengan cita rasa yang gurih, sedangkan penyajian cakwe yang bercita rasa manis dan kenyal dilakukan di Pontianak dan Ketapang.
