Summary[edit]

Description
English: Scanned thin section (PPL) showing a stromatolite from the Hoyt Limestone (Cambrian) near Saratoga Springs, New York. Left half of the slide is stained for calcite with Alizarin Red. Note abundant sand sized quartz grains and scattered fossils (gastropods) especially near the top right corner. Same image but with crossed polar is available under "file history" below.
