Dansk: Skitse af det indre af Colosseum
  • Dansk: De 14 korsvejsstationsaltre, som endnu i begyndelsen af 1800-tallet stod i Colosseum, blev flyttet op fra arenaen, da denne i 1813-14 blev udgravet. Efterfølgende blev arenaen udfyldt igen i eftersommeren 1814, og altrene blev etapevis flyttet ned igen i løbet af 1815 (jf. Dyveke Helsted i "Eckersberg i Rom", Thorvaldsens Museum, 1983, s. 102). På denne tegning er ikke alle altre flyttet ned endnu (ligesom på Hannover nr. 187 og 188/Eckersberg i Rom, kat. 26 og 28), hvilket sandsynliggør dateringen 1815. Samme synsvinkel ses i maleriet Hannover nr. 159 (Eckersberg i Rom, kat. 27), som dog er betragtet uden for selve arenaen.
