Pavement widening due to Covid-19 restrictions and consequent loss of a traffic lane in Farnham, Surrey

Summary[edit]

Description
English: COVID-19 guidelines (2020-1) in the United Kingdom required people to keep two metres apart. In towns that had narrow pavements, this was not always possible. In the case of part of Downing Street in Farnham, the solution was to reduce motor traffic flow from two lanes to one in order to gain space so that pedestrians could maintan a two metre distance from each other. Pedestrian and motorised traffic were separated by the flower boxes. Note the COVID-19 signs at the bottom right of the picture.
