Nederlands: Negatief. "Ragidup" of "ragi idup", wordt veelal vertaald als "motieven des levens"; "ragi" betekent "figuren of het patroon van een kledingstuk", idup "leven" (van der Tuuk 1861:432).
De fotograaf, Tassilo Adam, beschrijft deze doeksoort als volgt, "Dit "radja" weefsel wordt slechts nog door aanzienlijken bij bijzondere feestelijke gelegenheden gedragen." (Adam, 1919:13) Dit beeld toont aan dat de schering verlengd werd tijdens het weefproces. Het middenveld van de doek (meestal rood met witte strepen) wordt eerst geweven. Daarna wordt de witte schering ingevoegd en de overblijvende roodwitte schering eruit geknipt. Vervolgens wordt de witte schering geweven. Deze techniek is kenmerkend voor de "ragidup".
