Nederlands: Negatief. Het woord timmerwinkel is uit de tijd en we zouden het nu hebben over een werkplaats of een fabriekshal. Dit etablissement heeft nauwelijks iets te maken met wat we vandaag de dag een winkel noemen. Hier werd op moderne wijze hout gezaagd en tot deuren, kozijnen, en dergelijke verwerkt. Hier was een grote technologische sprong gemaakt. Tot ver in de 19e eeuw was de zaag verre van gebruikelijk bij houtverwerking door de Javanen, laat staan dit soort elektrische zagerijen. De Nederlanders hadden al vroeg door wind of water aangedreven zaagmolens gebouwd, maar die dure technologie was slechts op zeer beperkte schaal toegepast. (P. Boomgaard, 2001).
