Nederlands: Repronegatief. Voor de komst van de islam waren varkens in de hele archipel belangrijk als prooi bij de jacht, als vee en voedsel, en als offerdier. Na de verbreiding van de islam waren de varkens alleen nog te vinden in de 'heidense' binnenlanden van de grote eilanden (bij de Bataks, de Dajaks en de Toradja's) en op veel andere plaatsen in 'de Grote Oost' (en bij de Chinezen). Bij de Toradja's mag de rituele rol van de karbouw belangrijker zijn geweest, er werden bij verschillende rituelen wel meer varkens dan waterbuffels geslacht. Het ging hierbij niet alleen om het dodenfeest, maar ook om rituelen bij de constructie van een nieuw adathuis of het vernieuwen van het complexe dak. (P. Boomgaard, 2001).
