Nederlands: Pasteltekening van een staande Zulu-vrouw, in autochtone kleding, met hals- en armsieraden, en een pot op het hoofd.
Met zwart potlood in de rechter benedenhoek geschreven: Monasoga. In de linker bovenhoek: Illovo. Volgens beschrijvingen in het dagboek van Weber is deze tekening waarschijnlijk op 14 of 15 november 1894 in Illovo gemaakt: "De Kaffers zijn hier in hun eigenaardigheid goed te zien. Hotel en zuikerplantage zijn een enclave in Kafferlocations. Dagelijks is een geheele vergadering van beiderlei kunnen in de store, waar zij op zeer langdradige manier hun inkoopen doen. Thans ook Mielies daar zij slechts voor den dag zorgende krap aan zijn met hun mielies en de tijd van oogsten er nog lang niet is. Vooral de mannen komen in de namiddag uitgedost met hun kralen naar de store, terwijl de vrouwen en meisjes minder versierd zijn. Allen willen gaarne door Do geteekend zijn, die de handen vol werk heeft." |
