Nederlands: Olieverfschilderij. Het monument is ontworpen door de schilder/architect Antoine Payen (1792-1853). Kuhl (1796-1821) en Coenraad van Hasselt (1797-1823) waren leden van de Natuurkundige Commissie in Nederlandsch-Indië.
Het monument staat op het bekende kerkhof Tana Abang van het voormalige Batavia (Jakarta). Een zwaarmoedige schildering, niet alleen door het onderwerp, maar een indruk die men vooral krijgt bij het zien naar de sombere, donkergroen gekleurde, hoog oprijzende bomen. Deze sombere en zwaarmoedige indruk wordt versterkt door het Rembrandtieke licht, dat geworpen wordt op een hoog monument met lingga-achtig topstuk, op welk gedenkteken een aesculaap-teken is aangebracht en o.a. te ontcijferen vallend de woorden: Mr. S. Henrici Kund. Hanoviani, waaronder: Joh. Conr. van Hasselt-Groningen-Med.Dr. Rechts, aan de voet van een boom een kerkhofsteen, waarop o.a. te ontcijferen valt: Godalex Ger. Phil Baron Capellen..
