Nederlands: Repronegatief. Rond 1900 begon ook de Protestante zending zich voor medisch werk op Java te interesseren, later gevolgd door de rooms-katholieke missie. Er kwamen zendingsartsen, zendingshospitalen en de daarbij behorende verpleegsters. De zendingshospitalen namen het initiatief voor een nieuw stelsel, het zogeheten Jogja-systeem, omdat het begon met het Petronella hospitaal in Jogja. Het betrof hier een hiërarchisch systeem van een centraal ziekenhuis met hulphospitalen en poliklinieken.
De poliklinieken kregen de lichtste gevallen te behandelen. Daar kwam veelal zelfs geen arts aan te pas. De poliklinieken hadden tevens een apotheekfunctie en waren wat we nu 'laagdrempelig' zouden noemen. De lokale bevolking had er veel minder moeite mee dan met de 'strenge' ziekenhuizen, niet zelden grote, intimiderende gebouwen, bevolkt door grote blanke mannen in witte jassen. De polikliniek verwees de wat zwaardere gevallen door naar het hulpziekenhuis, vaak ook nog een simpel gebouw. Op die manier konden de (dure) ziekenhuizen zich op de zwaarste gevallen concentreren.
