Nederlands: Negatief. De koeskoessoorten (Phalanger) kwamen (en komen) alleen voor in het oosten van de Archipel. Het zijn buideldieren. Valentijn (ca. 1700) en Wallace (ca. 1860) meldden al dat deze dieren flink bejaagd werden, vooral door 'heidenen' en christenen (voor moslims zijn ze verboden kost). Ook Kopstein (ca. 1925) maakte melding van de voortdurende achtervolging van deze dieren, maar hij zei daarbij dat hun aantallen niet achteruit schenen te gaan. Tegenwoordig zijn het beschermde diersoorten, maar die status heeft geen einde kunnen maken aan de jacht op en het eten van deze dieren. (P. Boomgaard, 2001).
