English: The cosmic microwave background radiation is a faint radio waves glow filling all space radiated at 45,700 million ly - The oldest detectable radiation emitted 380,000 years after the Big Bang - When the universe cooled enough for protons and electrons to combine in neutral hydrogen atoms, the scattering stopped and light was allowed to propagate - Its wavelength has been stretched with space expansion changing its color from orangish-white passing trough infrared and ending in the microwave region of the radio spectrum - Almost isotropic, not associated with any star, galaxy, or another object - Having ruled out that this glow comes from Earth, from local or extended dust or gas, or from distant stars, the CMB is landmark evidence of the Big Bang origin of the universe - |
