"When is Happiness?" - "C’est quand le bonheur ?" - (100 x 80 cm) , by Erik Pevernagie x
People wonder whether Happiness is a blissful state of mind or just a kind of surreal propensity. If we remain guilelessly confined in a state of woeful unawareness or a no-mans-land of emotions, it won't be easy to recognize its very nature. In their obstinate quest, many forget to take pleasure in the small things of every day and become disgruntled and depressed instead, leading to a mire of gloom. Through social pressure, some cannot help faking Happiness, thinking it is a social duty to be happy, and sadness is socially unacceptable. Others feel lucky if they haven't got to be happy. As they don't like to unravel their frame of mind, they prefer to be left well enough alone. Still, others may be happy but are, oddly enough, not aware of it. They only sense the vibrations of Happiness and its feel of harmony, in hindsight. As they realize they have not learned to be kind and patient to themselves and capable of enjoying the privileged but simple twinklings of daily life, they blame themselves for not finding the threshold of wellbeing. In his "Soldier's Tale," Igor Stravinsky gives us his intriguing, paradoxical explanation: "Happiness that 'was not' and that "is not any longer." "Happiness is Happiness. We must learn to appreciate what life gives us and enjoy every little happy moment." For Happiness, we need to invest in time, energy, and creativity. Still and all, Happiness is not a sin, so let us spread our wings and prepare to be lucky.
Factual starting point of the picture: Girl looking forward to an eventuality, waiting for happiness to come. . |
