Summary

[edit]
Description
English: in response to news reports that "Emperor William furnished the Russians with plans for the conduct of the war against the Japanese", E. A. Bushnell depicted Aleksey Kuropatkin and Yevgeni Ivanovich Alekseyev consulting a cryptic diagram labeled "WAR MAP SHOWING HOW TO LICK THE JAPS, FROM YOUR UNCLE BILL, EMPEROR OF GERMANY" -- while hiding from an artillery barrage.

The diagram is signed "Yours Truly, Kaiser Wilhelm".

Note that the documents at Kuropatkin's and Alekseyev's feet say "I regret to report" -- the standard wording on the notice sent to a soldier's family to report that the soldier had been killed in action.
