English: One of the Ongjin islands near Chemulpo, Korea, c. 1901. Another Korean name of the city of Chemulpo was Inchŏn. The islands were called Ongjin islands in 1901. There is a town of Ongjin in North Korea. An archipelago is a group of islands. Korea is 1100 miles or so north of the Philippines and Indonesia, in the Far East. It is west of Japan and east and south of China. It is a peninsula of China like U.S. Florida is a peninsula. The map shows the larger of the 100 islands Ongjin islands. In 2011, the government office in charge of the islands was located in Incheon, South Korea.
