DescriptionBurmese Water Lily with Leica D Lux 5 (5302900227).jpg |
When I went to Myanmar in 2009, I took a Ricoh GRD 3 and a Canon T1i/50 1.8 lens. I found myself too caught up in taking pictures and missing the experience of actually "being there." This time, in 2010, I decided to travel light, equipped only with a Leica D-Lux 5. I ended taking only a few pictures, most of which were of my family in Yangon. The camera served well. 24mm was great in getting the shots of tall pagodas. I rarely used the 90mm as I found myself shooting wide this time. 1600ISO shots were good. The noise from the DL5 was better than all the small point and shoot digital cams I've used. I was able to take night shots without any issues. Focus was fast and accurate at pretty much all conditions. About the build of the camera: I noticed some metal scruffing (black paint coming off) on the base lens (where the lens retract). I'm not sure how that happened. The LCD also got some scratches. I tried to be careful but, my advise to those who want to keep the camera pristine--get a carring case for it. |
