Description
English: Politician Myoma U Than Kywe pronounced ( [mjo̰ mə-ʔú θáɴ tɕwɛ̀]) was born in Thonn Gya Township in Rangoon Burma in 1924. He was a politician of Burma Independence. He was the leader of the conference that initiated the formation of the Union of Burma. It was during the Second World War that Myoma U Than Kywe’s life as a high minded politician started. He was educated at the Rangoon University. He was about 20 years old in 1944 and modest. “Myoma” is not part of his given name but is an honorific. “U” is not part of his given name but is an honorific. He was a Chairman of the Myoma National School. So he adopted his Politician name as “Myoma U Than Kywe”. His youngest son is Myoma Myint Kywe, a Writer and historian and karate chief instructor from Burma.U Aung Zan Wai, U Pe Khin, Major Aung, Sir Maung Gyi and Dr. Sein Mya Maung and Myoma U Than Kywe…..etc. were most important negotiators and leaders of the historical pinlon (panglong) Conference negotiated with Burma national top leader General Aung San and other top leaders in 1947.All these leaders decided to join together to form the Union of Burma. Union day celebration is one of the greatest in the history of Burma. He died on 22 September 1983.
