Description
English: A red hibiscus flower (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis) in full bloom. Hibiscus is widely grown as an ornamental plant in the tropics and subtropics. When fully bloomed, these cheerful flowers can range from 4–18 cm in diameter. They are large, conspicuous, trumpet-shaped, with five petals with colors ranging from white to pink, red, orange, peach, and yellow. There are different variants with flowers that can be either a single flower or layered. The flowers bloom in the morning and wither after sunset. Hibiscus flowers are edible and have many uses such as for herbal tea that is rich in vitamin C and antioxidants. The picture above was taken in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Bahasa Indonesia: Bunga kembang sepatu warna merah. Tanaman bunga kembang sepatu (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis) pada umumnya tumbuh dan dibudidayakan sebagai tanaman hias di daerah tropis dan subtropis. Saat mekar sepenuhnya bunganya dapat berdiameter dari 4 sampai 18 cm. Bunganya besar dan berbentuk seperti terompet dengan lima kelopak bunga dan warnanya beragam dari mulai pink, merah, oranye, salmon dan kuning. Ada berbagai macam varietas bunga kembang sepatu. Ada yang bunganya satu lapis dan ada juga yang berlapis-lapis. Bunga ini berbunga di pagi hari dan menguncup lalu rontok setelah matahari terbenam. Bunga kembang sepatu dapat dibuat teh yang bermanfaat bagi kesehatan. Foto di atas diambil di Jakarta, Indonesia.
