For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Wismar, Lübsche Straße, St. Marien-Kirche Zentralbild Deutsche Demokratische Republik 18.7.1970 Hn. Wismar-Lübsche Straße Zu den beiden Seiten der Lübscher Straße in Wismar befinden sich schöne alte Giebelhäuser aus dem 16.-18. Jahrhundert. Der Turm der St. Marien-Kirche (u.Foto) gilt als Wahrzeichen Wismars und seiner alten Kultur. Im April 1945 wurde diese älteste gotische Backsteinkirche Wismars, eine der schönsten des Ostseegebiets, ein Opfer der Bomben, sodaß ihre Umfassungsmauern gesprengt werden mußten und nur der Turm erhalten werden konnte.
