For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Wismar, "Alter Hafen", Wassertor Zentralbild Link 18.7.1970 hn. Am "Alten Hafen" von Wismar. Am Alten Hafen Wismars legen die kleinen Verkehrsdampfer und Fischereifahrzeuge an. Hier befndet sich auch das Wassertor (l.). Es ist das letzte von einst 5 Toren innerhalb der 1276 erbauten, 4m hohen Stadtmauer, die im 19. Jahrhundert allmählich abgerissen wurde. Das Wassertor wurde um 1450 erbaut und zeigt den für die norddeutsche Gotik typischen Treppengiebel.
