For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Wismar, Krämerstraße, Marienkirche Zentralbild Junge 16.6.66 Ostseebezirk Rostock: Werft- und Hafenstadt Wismar. Mittelalterliche Giebel, ein großer Marktplatz, Bauten der Gotik und Renaissance zeugen von der Bedeutung und Größe Wismars in der Hansezeit. Aber nicht das allein beeindruckt heute den Besucher, der nach Wismar kommt. Ihn nehmen vor allem der Hafen und die Mathias-Thesen-Werft gefangen, denn hier schlägt der Puls der Stadt. Zum Wahrzeichen der Stadt wurde nach dem 2. Weltkrieg die große Kabelkrananlage mit ihren Hellingen. Der Werft gegenüber liegen der Übersee- der Öl- und Kalihafen. Die Schiffahrt verbindet Wismar mit den Staaten Afrikas, Asiens, mit der Sowjetunion und den MIttelmeerländern. UBz: Blick in die Krämerstrasse mit der Marienkirche am Markt (Hintergrund).
