Vom Bau des 2. Urlauberschiffes auf der Mathias-Thesen-Werft. Der Bau des 2. Urlauberschiffes der DDR geht weiter vorwärts. Die beiden Dieselmotore, die zusammen mit 2 Gasturbinen (erstmalig auf DDR-Schiffen) das Schiff antreiben werden, sind bereits eingesetzt. Auch der Innenausbau macht große Fortschritte. Rote Brigaden aus allen Werften der DDR eilen jetzt den Werftarbeitern der "Mathias-Thesen-Werft" zu Hilfe, um den Bau des Urlauberschiffes sicherzustellen. Am 1. März 1961 wird das 2. FDGB-Urlauberschiff von der "Mathias-Thesen-Werft" Wismar zur Probefahrt in See stechen.

UBz.: Oben: Die Schiffszimmerleute (v.l.n.r.): K.H. Lambrecht, Willi Gertz, Günther Pfeffer und K.H. Meier sind einige der vielen Werftarbeiter der "Mathias-Thesen-Werft", die am Bau des Urlauberschiffes beteiligt sind. Vielleicht werden auch sie schon im nächsten Jahr auf der "Fritz Eckert" im sonnigen Süden ihren Urlaub verbringen. Unten: Uwe Siederow (links) und Helmut Schaaf bei der Montage einer der beiden Hauptmotoren."
