For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. Zentralbild Brüggmann Sturm Die weltbekannte Nationalgalerie in Berlin Die Nationalgalerie wurde, wie so viele Kultur- und Kunstdenkmäler, im II. Weltkrieg stark zerstört. Umfangreiche finanzielle und materielle Mittel stellte die Regierung der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik zur Verfügung, um diese nationale Kulturstätte wiederherzustellen und zu erhalten. Bereits 1949 konnte die erste ständige, aber noch bescheidene Ausstellung gezeigt werden und seit 1955 sind sämtliche Räume dem Besucher zugänglich. Gemälde und Skulpturen von Künstlern des 19. und 20. Jahrhunderts wie MENZEL, GRASS, LEIBEL gehören zu den Sehenswürdigkeiten der Nationalgalerie; aber auch die Werke von Künstlern des deutschen Impressionismus und Expressionismus haben hier einen würdigen Platz gefunden. Eine ständige Ausstellung "Kunst der Gegenwart" macht die Besucher mit neuen künstlerischen Werken bekannt. UBz: Blick auf die Nationalgalerie. |
