Bau des FDGB-Urlauberschiffes begonnen. Der von der Mathias-Thesen-Werft auf dem V. Parteitag der SED vorgeschlagene Bau des FDGB-Urlauberschiffes hat am Vorabend des 1. Mai in dem Wismarer Schiffbaubetrieb außerhalb des Volkswirtschaftsplanes begonnen. Zur Unterstützung des Vorhabens haben Betriebsbelegschaften, Brigaden und einzelne Werktätige bisher Produktionsverpflichtungen im Werte von etwa 4, 3 Millionen DM übernommen. Auf das Spendenkonto für das für 400 Passagiere berechnete 125 Meter lange Schiff gingen weit über 2 Millionen DM ein.

UBz: Nachdem Werftdirektor Ernst Rösse das Kommando "Bau freigegeben" gesprochen hatte, wurden die Stahlplatten des zukünftigen Flachkiels auf einer automatischen Vorrichtung mit drei Schneidbrennern zugeschnitten."
