Zentralbild-Gahlbeck Frö-Qu 17.2.1959 Beitrag des VEB Glasfaserwerkes Steinach zum Chemieprogramm Eine weitere Steigerung der Basaltwolle-Produktion sowie die Weiterentwicklung von Formstücken als hochhitzebeständiges Isoliermaterial für die Chemische Industrie ist im Produktionsprogramm des Glasfaserwerkes vorgesehen. So wird die Gesamtproduktion um 18,4 Prozent gesteigert und die Produktion der neu entwickelten Basaltwolle für das Chemieprogramm wird in diesem Jahr auf 150 Prozent anwachsen. Der Isoliereffekt bei Basaltwolle ist 12 Prozent höher als bei Glaswolle. Basaltwolle ist ausserdem 60 Prozent billiger als Glaswolle. UBz. Für die Entwicklung des Basaltschmelzverfahrens wurde der technische Leiter des Betriebes Otto Gerlach als Verdienter Techniker ausgezeichnet.
