Cottbus, Westflüchtling beim Holzhacken

Zentralbild Schutt 29.11.1954 "Ich habe vom Westen die Nase voll" Der Rentner Karl Reier verließ im Dezember 1953 seine Heimatstadt Cottbus und seine Familie und ging nach Westdeutschland in das kleine Dorf Scheitchen, Kreis Prüm (Eifel). Später kam er in ein Kloster nach Wachsweiler. Er erhielt im Monat 12 DM. Arbeit war für den 69jährigen nicht zu haben. Karl Reier hat es bitter bereut und kam nun wieder zurück nach Cottbus. Er arbeitet hier in einer Holzgroßhandlung. "Im Westen war ich nichts wert, ich war verachtet. Hier habe ich meine Familie, meine Heimat und meinen Verdienst".
