For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
VEB Carl Zeiss Jena, Linsen ADN-ZB Kasper 15.1.1988 Bez. Gera: Linsen der verschiedensten Durchmesser und Brennweiten für optische Geräte aus dem Jenaer Zeiss-Kombinat erhalten in der Poliererei des Optik-Betriebes ihren "letzten Schliff". Neben einer ständig steigenden Produktion von Erzeugnissen des klassischen Optikprogramms hat sich die Fertigung von Optik-Bauteilen für lithografische Geräte in den vergangenen zwei Jahren verdoppelt. Solche Anlagen sind Bestandteil technologischer Spezialausrüstungen für die Herstellung mikroelektronischer Bauelemente. Dabei werden optische Systeme benötigt, deren Funktionsflächen zum Teil nicht mehr als ein Fünfzigtausendstel Millimeter vom Ideal abweichen. Hohe Präzision verlangt ständige Kontrolle der optischen Bauteile beim Polieren. Cornelia Kinzel ist Lehrling im zweiten Lehrjahr. Sie erlernt den Beruf des Feinoptikers.
