For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. Ein Gang durch die Staatliche Münze in Berlin ! wo die Herstellung der Ein-, Zwei-, Drei- und Fünfmark-Stücke vor sich geht, ist äusserst interessant. In grossen Silberbarren wandert das Silber, nachdem es vorher genau gewogen und begutachtet ist, in den Schmelztieges, wo es zu langen Silberplatten geformt wird. Diese haben meist eine Länge von 1 m und eine Breite je nach der Grösse des zu prägenden Geldstückes, und kommen in die Stanzmaschine, welche hunderte von Stücken in der Mitte stanzt. Das gestanzte Silber wird sodann von seinen chemischen Substanzen gereinigt, wodurch es einen neuen Glanz erhält. 10 Prägemaschinen, welche ein Meisterwerk deutscher Technik darstellen und sehr compliziert gehalten sind, prägen das Geld. Das fertige Geld geht durch Zählmaschinen, wo es ganau gezählt in Säcke fällt und verpackt wird, um alsdann nach allen Filialen der Reichsbank versandt zu werden. Die Arbeiter der Staatlichen Münze sind Beamte und geniessen das höchste Vertrauen ihrer vorgesetzten Behörde. Das verpackte Geld wird nochmals genau gewogen und so an die Reichsbank versandt. |
