For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. Zur 200. Wiederkehr des Geburtstages des deutsch-amerikanischen Generals Friedrich von Steuben fand an dem Steubendenkmal in Potsdam, dem einzigen Steuben-Denkmal in Deutschland, eine grosse Kundgebung der deutsch-amerikanischen Steubengesellschaft statt. Tausende wohnten dieser erhebenden Feier bei. Der Potsdamer Oberbürgermeister Ullrich rauscher bringt ein begeistertes Hoch am Fusse des Denkmals auf den Deutsch-Amerikaner General von Steuben aus. |

English: Description:A large rally by the German-American Steuben Society was held at the Steuben Monument in Potsdam, the only Steuben monument in Germany, for the 200th birthday of the German-American General Friedrich von Steuben. Thousands attended this uplifting celebration. The Oberbürgermeister (Lord Mayor) of Potsdam, Ullrich Rauscher, leads an enthusiastic cheer at the foot of the monument.
