d'Aubusson, que des études brillantes de droit semblaient
désigner pour le barreau, s'était épris fort jeune d'une vive
passion pour les Sciences naturelles et plus particulièrement
pour la Zoologie. Mais ce fut bientôt l'Ornithologie qui devint

sa science favorile et c'est à elle qu'il consacra alors toute son
activité.
Sa vaste érudition, exempte de dogmatisme scientifique, et
son style élégant qui faisait encore valoir ses rares qualités
d'observateur, l'avaient classés rapidement parmi les ornitho-
logistes les plus réputés.
Dès 1880, date de son admission dans notre Société, il avait
donné la mesure de sa science et de ses talents d'écrivain en
publiant dans notre Bulletin les Gallinacés d'Asie,
catalogue raisonné des espâces vivant sur le confinent asiatique, qui
servit d'une façon si efficace à l'acclimatation, en France, des
Gallinacés exotiques. Puis il écrivait une Ornithologie géné-
