H.W.F.del. Figure 6.—Ipnoceps pristibrachium, new species: Type (U. S. N. M. No. 99508). Family SYNGNATHIDAEPARABELONICHTHYS, new genus Type.—Parabelonichthys kellersi, new species. Body compressed, with rather feeble cristae or keels, which smoothand on trunk; three auxiliaries along each interval longitudinallyof fundamental cristae; superior cristae of head and trunk discon-tinuous; inferior cristae of trunk and tail discontinuous; mediancristae of trunk and inferior cristae of tail continuous. Tail littlelonger than combined head and trunk. Vent little premedian. Dor-sal begins little before middle between gill opening and vent, rays 57,on 15 rings of which 5 belong to tail. Anal present. Caudal welldeveloped. Pectoral large, with broad base. Related to Belonichthys Peters but differing chiefly in its auxiliarylongitudinal trunk keels.
