Summary[edit]

Description Canting arms of Bugg of w:Willoughby on the Wolds, Nottinghamshire: Or, on two bars gules three water bougets argent, 2 and 1. Sir Richard Bugg (d.1324), lord of the manor of Willoughby-upon-the-Wold, assumed the surname of Willoughby from his lordship and in 1317 purchased the manor of Wollaton in Nottinghamshire from Sir Roger de Mortein. Thus also arms of Willoughby (of Wollaton, Nottinghamshire) (Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, p.1118)
