Description

Melanistic Bufo bofo, photographed held on a leather glove. It was found in a dry ditch near Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It was completely black, even in direct sunshine, only the eyes having colour. There was a juvenile nearby, also black.

The image has been lightened and edited to show detail, but it was black, not grey. The image may give the impression that the colour is due to mud, but in direct sunlight it looked clean, and it left no mark on your uploader's bare hands.
