Summary[edit]

Description
English: The brown boobook, also known as the brown hawk-owl, is an owl species that resides in South Asia, ranging from India, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Nepal to western Indonesia and southern China. This owl features a hawk-like appearance with large, intense yellow eyes, a solid brown back, a white breast with patchy brown spots, and a pale triangle above its bill. It thrives in diverse forested environments, from primary rainforests to orchards and gardens, and is primarily active during nighttime and dusk, often hunting from exposed perches. Its vocalization consists of a series of ascending hoots: “woo-wuh! woo-wuh! woo-wuh!” This was photographed at Mahananda, West Bengal, India
