| Description |
English: Brooklands Memorial This memorial is to the period of operation of the Brooklands motor circuit. It was originally situated on the other side of the River Wey (the banks of which can be seen immediately behind it), having been unveiled in 1957, by Lord Brabazon of Tara, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the building of the circuit. In 2004, it was moved to its present position in the grounds of the Brooklands Museum and restored (in time for the circuits centenary in 2007). The reason for its move is that its original site is now part of "Mercedes-Benz World", one of the compounds of which can be seen in the background of the picture. |
