Title
Bronze Age or Iron Age unidentified object (plan, profile, plan, reverse).
Description
English: A copper alloy late Iron Age artefact; a decorative mount. The object is a sub-oval in plan with an off-central circular perforation in both faces. In profile the object is sub-asymmetrical rectangle with the upper edge forming a 'W'. From the 'W' on either side of the profile faces there is a wide inverted groove forming an overall a ')(' pattern. The underside of the mount is hollow, and has an integral circular sectioned stud which extends beyond the lower edge of the sides. The stud tapers slightly to a blunt point which is possibly broken, but not recently. The surface has an incomplete well developed green/brown coloured patina. Some abrasion and pitting has occured. The mount measures 15.29mm long, 12.56mm wide, 18.16mm tall and weighs 7.7g.

The style suggests it probably dates to the late Iron Age period, and can perhaps be narrowed down to 1st century BC to the 1st century. The function of this type of mount is not certain. WAW-128D32 from Warwickshire is almost identical, and SWYOR-5C5FB5 is a similar style of mount.
