Description
English: (1 in a multiple picture set)

This picture is not enhanced. As I was hiking through the lava beds of the Newberry National Volcanic Park, I looked over the mound of lava and spotted Broken Top Mountain (aptly named) through the haze. It was some distance away, but it showed up well, through ghostlike, in this shot. I was taken by the difference in texture: the rough lava against the soft alpine view.

To the right of Broken Top is one of the peaks which start the "Three Sisters" range (South Sister, also called Faith. Hope (Middle Sister) and Charity (North Sister) are the other two. (See the next picture for a closer view of this scene.)
