But my con-nection with Fleet-street goes back to 1834, asin that year my grandfather was made a part-ner in the firm of bank-note engravers, Perkins,Bacon and Petch. so you will see that I amfully qualified for paper land. Since thetime the hon. secretary mooted the idea of asmall luncheon party on .\pril 8th, I have hadthe misfortune to lose my esteemed co-director.Mr. Albert E. He has passed away, and left anhonoured name behind him, and except forhis death my other two colleagues, his sons,would have been present to-day, but I knowthej are in spirit. (Hear, hear.)
