Summary[edit]

Description The top of Britannia Iron Works Gate surmounted by an intricate lightning rod and tiny weather vane. The earthing cable can be seen going down the right hand side. The gate now stands as an architectural feature and monument to Bedford's industrial Past (the town was an engineering center until the late 20th century and now has almost no industry of any kind). (View from the back of the gate.)
