Petty Officer 2nd Class Jeffrey Deck, a boatswain’s mate at the Maritime Force Protection Unit in Bangor, Wash., acts as coxswain on a Coast Guard 64-foot Special Purpose Craft-Screening Vessel during exercise Northern Vindicator along the Hood Canal, Sept. 23, 2015. SPC-SVs are used to escort high-value Navy assets and feature seating for 10 in the pilothouse, a messdeck and a berthing for five, providing sufficient rooms for two crews and allowing for extended operation.
