Description
English: Brick Kiln Lock near Gailey, Staffordshire The Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal was opened in 1772 and has forty-three locks (forty-five if the narrow options at Stourport are taken). Brick Kiln Lock is No 33, and drops the water level by eight feet (2.4 metres)on the journey from the summit level at Gailey down to the junction with the Trent and Mersey Canal at Great Haywood, by the Shugborough estate. The forested area of Cannock Chase can be seen on the skyline.
