Brandeston, All Saints: floor memorial
Description Ledger stone of Thomas Hawes (1679-1746). Latin inscription states: .... in memory of whom John, the elder son of Mary Harsant, sister of the aforesaid Thomas, ordered the placing of this marble. Arms of Hawes: Sable, a fess humetée ermine between three griffin's heads erased of the last (Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, p.468 for "Hawe (sic) of Basingham and Helgay, Norfolk")
