English: East German Border Police Pamphlet announcing the opening of Brandenburg Gate as border checkpoint for pedestrians on 1989-12-22. It was distributed to Berliners, tourists, the press etc. in December 1989. The signature is (without date and place): Grenztruppen der DDR (Border Troops of the German Democratic Republic), Grenzkommando Mitte.

Information sheet from the GDR Border Troops.

Dear citizens!
Pursuant to an agreement concluded between Hans Modrow, Prime Minister of the GDR [East Germany], and the Federal Chancellor of the FRG [West Germany], Helmut Kohl, the BRANDENBURG GATE border control post will be opened on 22 December 1989.

For the time being, the border control post will be reserved to border-crossing pedestrian traffic.
At the same time, the BRANDENBURG GATE will be accessible to the public from the time of the opening. Therewith, every citizen of the capital and every of its visitors will be availed with the opportunity to visit a building of cultural history.
The Border Troups of the GDR will be preparing the constructional conditions for administering the cross-border traffic within the timeframe from 21 December 1989, 22:00 h, until 22 December, 13:00 h.
In the interest of a smooth operation of the building measures connected with the establishment of the border control post, we kindly request you to efficiently support our efforts to maintain public security and order.
