Summary[edit]

Description
English: Branch Road, Elland One of the World's first grade separated road junctions was at Ainley Top. It is shown on the 1850 OS map: The new Halifax to Huddersfield turnpike road (date?) crosses under the New Hey Road of c.1824. The two were connected by Branch Road, which is part of the old Halifax to Huddersfield Road of c.1777. This was closed off when the M62 was built, and leads only to Hill Top Avenue. A cat can safely snooze in the sun until the commuters come home.
