Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Brampton Abbotts village hall. One of the things I like best about submitting photos to Geograph is the things I learn while researching captions for the photos. A simple Google search for "Brampton Abbotts village hall" brought up an article in the Ross Gazette dated 20th May 2016 which revealed that not only the build date of the hall but also the story of how it came to be built. Apparently, it had been decided at a Parish meeting in 1944 that the best way to welcome home the Brampton Abbotts men who fought in WWII (all of whom survived) would be to build a village hall, and after more than a decade of campaigning and fundraising (including a contribution of six shillings by two young carol singers) it opened in December 1956.
