| Description |
English: An InterCity 125 (also called a High Speed Train or HST) at Bradford Exchange station in 1979. Bradford Exchange station was closed and demolished not long after this photograph was taken, because it is in an inconvenient position. That is to say, an inconvenient position for the road planners and motoring interests. The fact that it was very convenient for rail users did not count. So a new station, Bradford Interchange, a much longer walk from the shops of Central Bradford, was built instead.
High Speed Trains, as shown here, no longer run from Bradford Interchange (they did however run from Forster Square until the line was electrified, and there are Grand Central services from London King's Cross to Bradford Interchange using their Class 180 DMUs). |
