IN Addison Township, Somerset County,Pennsylvania, near the line of the Balti-more & Ohio Railroad, about ninetymiles east of Pittsburg, is an object ofinterest and curiosity; a veritable enigmato everybody for centuries. The first white men to penetrate intothe great wilderness of the western partof the then province of Pennsylvania, ofwhich what is known now as SomersetCounty was a part, were Indian traders,in the year 1730.
