Thomas, 1917 and Microtus mustersi Hinton, 1926 - suggesting that neither are
likely to be synonymous with M. irani (Musser & Carleton 1993). A strong alveolar
process is, however, not an exclusive property of M. irani, but was also observed in
M. cfr. irani from Iran (Kangasar, Tehran) and from Turkey (SMF specimens from
