| Description |
English: Bolton Castle from the West Built by Richard le Scrope Between 1378 and 1399. He was once Lord Chancellor during the reign of King Richard the second.
Quadrangular in design with one moated, drawbridged and portcullised entrance,(forgive my corruption of the English language,) it must have been a formidable stonghold. It is still in the ownership of a descendant of Richard le Scrope. Unusual after 600 years of history. |
