Boletus vermiculosoides A.H. Sm. & Thiers Image location: Moon Lake Park, Pennsylvania, USA Oak-dominated woods. Cap light brown, tomentose. Margin slightly inrolled. Stipe apex yellowish with brown reticulatum (about 15% of stipe), brownish through midsection (possibly due to stain), whitish below. Context pale, bluing but weakly so in stipe. Pinkish in lower 20% of stipe. Pores deep maroon-brown, bruising black. Ammonia amber on cap surface, weakly brownish on cap context, weakly yellowish on stipe context. KOH reddish-brown on cap surface, orangish on cap context, brownish to bleached-white on stipe context. Recognized by sight
